TORCH FISHERMAN By Artist Louis G. Pohl

This beautiful late 1930s painting titled, 'Torch Fisherman' was painted by listed Hawaiian artist, Louis G. Pohl (1915 - 1999). Pohl was a painter, printmaker, art teacher and author. At one time he was director of the Linekona Art Center, an art education facility that Pohl helped establish. During his lifetime Pohl was recognized by The Hawaii State Legislature and the Honolulu Printmakers as a living treasure for his lifetime achievements. Through his career, Pohl helped establish exhibits, galleries, the Linekona Art Center and the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. This rare vintage watercolor is a beautiful representation of life in Hawaii in the 1930s and is still in amazingly fine condition, colors remain bright. Signed by Pohl lower left, the image measures 16" x 13 1/2". The frame is Hawaiian koa and measured 24" x 20", with clear glass also. FedEx 2nd day air shipping.
